Dr Ileana Lindeman

Chief Executive Officer

Dr Lindeman has a dual-track experience as both a Harvard MBA and former UK National Health Service doctor. In recent years, she has been supporting start-ups in orthopaedic medical devices in business development and operational functions. Her original background is in strategic advisory and portfolio-building roles across multiple industries. After spending a 10+ years in that space, Dr Lindeman embarked on a career as a physician in her 30s. Thanks to her unconventional background, she has a broad and unique insight into the needs and motivations of life sciences stakeholders and she is passionate about applying these insights to benefit patients, providers and investors.

Prof Keita Ito

Founder and Chief Scientific Officer

Prof Keita Ito is an active and pre-eminent scholar in the field of orthopaedic biomechanics/mechanobiology and spine research. He is a former Board Member of the AO Foundation and has been actively involved for over 15 years as an educator and key opinion leader with the AO, the leading international physician-driven orthopaedic organisation. Prof Ito earned his engineering PhD from MIT and was awarded his medical doctorate from Harvard Medical School. Prof Ito is the inventor of NC Biomatrix’s core technology and as CSO, he manages all medical, scientific and technical matters pertaining to it.

Dr Kelly Hoogesteijn-Stam

Manager RAQA and Manufacturing

Dr Stam has earned a PhD in Physiology focused on novel animal model development for chronic cardio-pulmonary diseases at the Erasmus University Rotterdam after graduating with honour at the VU University Amsterdam. She brings experience in the regulatory and quality management of medical devices obtained at the RA people academy and RAPS. Dr Stam was NC Biomatrix’s first employee and her primary focus here is regulatory and quality system compliance as well as leading the relationship with our notified body. Dr Stam enjoys being outdoors, doing needlework and lifting heavy weights at the gym.

Rachael Benson

Manufacturing and R&D Lead

Rachael Benson brings a wealth of cross-industry experience from ISO 13485, GMP, ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 to NC Biomatrix where she is focussed on transfer of the process from R&D to manufacturing. She has been leading our manufacturing validation efforts, working in close collaboration with Kelly Hoogesteijn-Stam and HCM Medical, and has been instrumental in helping us develop and implement an effective contamination control strategy. Rachael is a professional microbiologist and chartered biologist with over 24 years’ experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, disinfectant, and cosmetic industries. Specifically, she has been previously involved with testing and developing new methods for anti-microbial products and surfaces for both orthopaedics and wound care. In 2017 Rachael formed her own consultancy company and is director of MICRAMED Limited, which provides a range of Quality and Microbiology Consultancy and Training services to the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical and related Industries. Outside of work, Rachael enjoys running (jogging!), going to live music gigs, cycling and dancing.
